THE REGIS COLLEGE HAITI PROJECT

The Regis College Haiti Project/International Nurse Faculty Partnership Initiative (RCHP/INFPI) is a highly targeted, sustainable, international development project to improve patient care and health outcomes in Haiti. Advancing the education and training of Haitian nursing university faculty and clinicians, while subsequently working with the Haitian government to institutionalize the graduate nursing education program within Haiti, the project systemically addresses the public health and health care crisis in Haiti.

Conceived in 2007, the Regis College Haiti Project’s mission is to improve patient care and health outcomes in Haiti. The Haiti Project is tailored to enhance the credentials, education and training of Haitian nursing faculty (all of whom have the equivalent of an associate’s degree in nursing) who will lead the advancement of nursing education for all nurses in Haiti. The RCHP is a collaboration among Regis’s School of Nursing, Sciences and Health Professions; Partners in Health/Zanmi Lasante; the Haitian Ministry of Health; the State University of Haiti; the University of Notre Dame d’Haiti; and selected nursing educators and clinicians from across Haiti.

The project, currently in its third year, has had tremendous success; most notably it celebrated the graduation of its first cohort of Haitian nursing faculty in February, 2014. By the time the project is institutionalized in Haiti by 2018, a total of 36 Haitian nursing faculty will have received a master’s degree in nursing and an estimated 20,000 nursing students will have benefited from the program.

We thank you in advance for your support of our important work!
