Reunion Giving

In May, the class of ’59 celebrated our 50th reunion. Where did the time go since we graduated from Regis? While we have changed so much with careers, retirement, kids, grandkids, travels, it seemed like yesterday when we were students. It felt wonderful coming back to Regis and seeing what powerful impact Regis is still making in young people’s lives year after year.

At our 40th class reunion in 1999, our class started the 1959 Scholarship Fund that enabled us to present a substantial check to Regis at our 50th reunion. I was so privileged to be able to present President England with a check for more than $104,000 for student financial assistance. The fund started with a target goal of $50,000 to raise in 10 years. When we surpassed that goal in just 5 years, the class decided to double our pledge. Not only were we able to present this sizeable gift, but the class of ’59 raised an additional $40,000+ for the 2008-2009 Annual Fund and we had a class participation of 78 percent.
Since I spearheaded the Class of 1959’s successful Scholarship gift to Regis, I have been asked to Chair the Reunion Giving Committee. I accepted this challenge knowing that Regis will get full support of all reunion classes.

As Regis graduates, we have two missions:
The ANNUAL FUND, which supports Regis in its ongoing need for student financial assistance and operational expenses

And SPECIAL GIFTS which are targeted to special wishes of each class. Please remember that this Special (or restricted) Gifts are in addition to the Annual Gifts, as these are stretch goals for reunion year celebrations.

As a Regis class member, we need one representative from each class to be a part of the Reunion gift Committee, named Reunion Gift Vice-Chair.  Perhaps we will have a meeting at my home in Florida. How does that dound for a winter meeting?!

I encourage each of you and your classmates to be creative and thoughtful as you look at ways for Regis to remain so vibrant and an educator of top students. Here are a few suggestions for raising money:
• Ask family members to make honorary contributions to Regis in your name for birthday gifts
• Make a memorial gift in the name of a family member, classmate, or favorite faculty person
• Host a Regis fundraiser at your home, club, or place of employment
• If you have been blessed and are able to make a substantial gift in honor of your reunion, initiate a challenge and inspire your classmates to collectively match your gift.
